The principal responsibilities of the Controller are to be a strategic partner to the plant leadership team. As a key member of the plant leadership team, the Controller is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial statements and internal/external reporting[JB1] . Additionally, the Controller should be visible in the plant to foster a relationship with management and have a solid understanding of operations and current operating conditions. The Controller will also take the lead on managing both the short-term and long-term financial modeling of the business, the annual audit process and assist the CFO in other areas of the business.
The Controller reports to the company CFO with a dotted line to the Plant Manager. The Controller supervises the general accounting processes at the Hannibal cement plant, including the operations of Green America Recycling general accounting processes, and the Hannibal general accounting processes. In addition, this position manages the interactions between the Hannibal accounting team and Continental’s corporate finance team on other transactional processing and financial reporting requirements.
- Work in business partnership with plant manager.
Work with the plant leadership team to create the annual budget.
Provide forecast and budget details for plant cost and capex.
Actively participate in the flash and the final close process through analytical review and coordination of accounting processes with the corporate finance team.
Provide plant cost information to senior management in conjunction with the inputs and review from plant management.
Work with internal and external auditors on review materials and manage audit process to efficient and successful results.
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of the financial systems, processes and data, comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, and enhance the Company’s value.
Preparation and participation in monthly internal financial performance reviews with operations.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
5+ years’ experience in manufacturing industry, preferably cement environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, processes and control systems.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Organizational skills and the initiative to take charge of situations or projects
Ability to work and lead in a cross – functional team environment.
Maintain an attitude of cooperation, teamwork, and communication with associates at all levels of the organization.
Proficient In all Microsoft Office products. Advanced proficiency level in Excel.
Experience preferred with Viewpoint ERP system, Maximo and Hyperion along with the ability to generate reports using the EXCEL Smartview.
